From Oaxaca, Mexico.

Developed by accident in 1953, the black pottery was created by burnishing it with a quartz crystal, then firing in a kiln heated to about 700°C (1292°F). The smoke and heat will turn the pieces black. The iron oxide in the clay also helps to turn it black.

It has a satiny sheen, sometimes with a slightly silver luster.

Dimmensions: ~12" height x 4.5" wide (2.5 pounds)

In true wabi sabi style, each piece is created by hand and and not mass-produced so there might be slight irregularities. These irregularities are not considered flaws. This is part of the design and what makes each piece unique and special.
