A traditional Uzbekistan heritage craft, silk thread is embroidered over a fabric base. A tambour hook is used for the chain stitching, and the needlework can take months. 

In the nineteenth century, Uzbek women produced fabulous embroidered hangings for their households and their daughters' dowries. Now these gorgeous contemporary embroideries are popular across chic European and American households.
