Devi Caftan - Bandhani
Description
Our newest silhouette is part dress, part caftan. The style is long and loose fitting, with an A-line cut through the body allowing for a long, fluid drape.
The full-length bell sleeves are flared at the wrist. The arched hemline is shorter in the front, and the overall length is ankle-grazing.
The fabric is soft, light cotton and the pattern is achieved from the bandhani hand-work process.
Bandhani is an ancient Indian tie-and-dye technique that relies on intricate resist-dyeing. The word comes from the Sanskrit root bandh, meaning "to tie".
Artisans create beautiful, dotted motifs by pinching hundreds of tiny fabric sections and binding them tightly with thread before submerging the cloth into dye. When the thread is removed, the white remains undyed and creates the pattern.
This is an effortless piece. The clean, minimal design gives it a refined, understated luxurious feel. It's a classic modern minimalist resort wear piece that works well with statement jewelry (as shown) and flat sandals of any kind.
Wear it to the beach and throw on some strappy sandals for dinner.
