Description
Our vintage kanthas are handpicked by the owner on her travels abroad by sifting through dozens, sometimes hundreds over hours at time, to find the best ones. From there they are washed and repaired before being shipped to New York.
Vintage kanthas all have a story and are all uniquely one-of-a-kind. Each one is hand stitched by women artisans in India using traditional a Kantha stitch method made from 3-4 layers of old sarees stitched together.
Each side has distinctly different patterns. Some have multiple patterns on a side and some have patches where they have been repaired. No two kanthas are the same.
They are all 100% cotton, machine washable and durable. They are most commonly used as adornment for beds (quilt or throw), on couches or sofas, for pets, at the beach, and the list goes on. They are a utilitarian multi-purpose textile.
